Helena Morrissey CBE: Newton Investment Management Ltd – Chief Executive Officer

Helena Morrissey is Chief Executive Officer of Newton Investment Management Ltd, which is BNY Mellon’s UK-based global thematic investment boutique. She has been a member of the Financial Services Practitioner Panel – representing investment management – since October 2006.

Helena joined Newton in 1994 and was appointed Chief Executive Officer in July 2001.

Previously she was head of Fixed Income, managing a number of specialist global and single currency bond funds. She retains a keen interest in Newton’s investment strategy and is a member of its Investment Committee. A Cambridge philosophy graduate, she began her career as a global bond analyst with Schroders in New York.

Helena was presented with the Financial News’ ‘Most Influential Woman in Asset Management’ Award in 2010. She is also a Director of the Investment Management Association and a member of the Royal Academy’s Corporate Board.

In November 2010 she launched the 30% Club, an initiative aimed at increasing the proportion of women on UK Corporate Boards, enlisting the support of Chairmen of listed companies to voluntarily aim for a better gender balance in Britain's boardrooms.
