Russell Collins: Partner and Vice Chairman, Deloitte LLP

Russell is a Vice Chairman of Deloitte in the UK and is a member of the firm’s Global Financial Services Management Board. He was Managing Partner for Financial Services for Deloitte in the UK and Europe, Middle East and Africa until June 2011 and is now a member of the firm’s Centre for Regulatory Strategy which draws on financial service industry experts from across Deloitte’s European network to provide clients with a forward-looking view of the most important regulatory developments affecting them.

Following his Economics degree at Cambridge, Russell qualified as a Chartered Accountant and he has audited and advised firms in all sectors of financial services for 30 years. Russell has previously been a member of the Institute of Chartered Accounts in England and Wales’ Financial Services and Banking sub-committees and he also represented the ICAEW on the European Banks’ Working Party.

Russell has a carried out a wide range of regulatory work for clients including investigations and the development of risk based regulation in both banking and insurance, most recently advising the FSA as it developed a more intensive regulatory environment following the financial crisis. He was a partner appointed as accountants to the inquiry by the Bank of England into the collapse of Barings.

Prior to becoming Panel chair Russell had been a member of the Panel representing professional services for over six years.
