Practitioner Panel Members

Membership of the Panel is constructed to represent the various sectors within which regulated financial businesses operate, often based on nominations made by trade associations.

Members are drawn from the most senior levels of the industry, and are formally appointed by the Financial Services Authority (FSA). The Chairman must have the formal approval of the Treasury. Only two sectors must be represented: recognised clearing houses and recognised stock exchanges.

The Panel aims to rotate its membership as well as its Chairmanship to ensure a balance between consistency and new input.

David Challen, the Practitioner Panel's inaugural Chairman from 1998, handed over to Donald Brydon in 2001. Jonathan Bloomer was appointed as the Practitioner Panel's new Chairman in October 2003, and Roy Leighton succeeded him in November 2005. Nick Prettejohn became Chairman in December 2007, and was succeeded by Iain Cornish on 1 November 2009. The current Chairman, Russell Collins, was appointed with effect from 1 July 2011.
